Apple Intelligence, the company’s initial set of AI features, will not be available on the next iPhone 16.
Just a few hours before the new iPhone announcement event, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg broke the following news. According to the source, the first iOS 18.1 update, which is slated for October, will not include Apple’s AI-powered Image Playground app or the Genmoji feature, which enables users to make emojis from text prompts. It is anticipated that these more sophisticated AI features won’t be available until the iOS 18.2 update, which is scheduled for release in December.
It is said that worries about these AI capabilities’ stability and dependability led to the decision to phase them out gradually. It’s rumored that Apple is holding off on distributing the technology to consumers until it’s “fully baked.”
Users may have to wait many months to experience the entire spectrum of promised AI enhancements, which could dampen the excitement usually associated with new iPhone debuts. Apple Intelligence is being delivered in phases.
Gurman also suggests that regulatory obstacles would cause Apple Intelligence to have more delays in entering other areas, such as China and the European Union.
Apple’s choice to withhold its most anticipated AI technologies from the iPhone 16 could have an impact on consumer demand and the gadget’s general reaction, especially with the introduction of the device in just a few hours.
It may not be possible for users to fully utilize Apple’s AI capabilities until later software updates or perhaps until the iPhone 17 is released in 2025.
